Microsoft’s Internet Explorer 10 is set to launch on October 26, 2012, along with Windows 8. In accordance with its browser support policy of supporting only the two most recent browser versions, Google has announced that it will stop supporting Internet Explorer 8 on November 15, 2012. Because Internet Explorer 8 was the last release for Windows XP, this means that Windows XP will no longer be supported by Google.
This may impact you and your website in different ways, depending on which Google applications are being used. Two of the most common applications we see used on websites are Google Maps and embedded YouTube videos. These both will be affected by Google’s browser support policy.
