To App or Not to App

March 18, 2013 John Simpson

The explosion of Mobile has been a hot topic here at One North. Now that nearly half of American adults own a smartphone, and 25 percent own tablets, it's impossible to ignore the fact that current and potential clients are trying to find your firm from their mobile devices.

What's the best way to reach these mobile users? Is a mobile website enough, or is a platform app required? In the January/Febraury Marketing issue of The Administrator's Advantage, I break down the pros and cons of both approaches and share advice to help your firm determine whether it should create a mobile version of its website—or develop its own app.

  • Favorite season: Summer. Summer makes everyone feel like a kid again.
  • Super power: Positivity. A psychology professor once told me that humans are predisposed to be positive. His logic was that the cave man faced so many challenges – sabre tooth tigers, starvation, cold weather, disease – that they had to be positive just to survive until the next day. I can’t say whether or not this theory has scientific merit, but it’s good enough for me!
