Director, Front End Development

Bring your technical expertise, passion and curiosity to a leadership role for an innovative team that strives to build exceptional digital experiences for our clients.

 

In this role, you will lead a team of front-end developers while also working closely alongside strategists, designers, architects, and more across the agency.

Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership and management to the front end development team, both day-to-day management as well as vision setting for the team.
  • Guide the team to engineer for performance, accessibility, maintainability, and efficiency, while also creating beautiful user experiences.
  • Bring an expert understanding of the tools, processes and approaches for world-class front-end development, and the skills and appreciation for UX/UI and creative design principles.
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teammates across our agency capabilities to deliver strategic solutions to our clients’ challenges.
  • Work with business development to vet and pursue new opportunities. Provide solution recommendations and project estimates to sales team.
  • Conduct code reviews and provide career guidance to team members.
  • Manage all resourcing for the front end team.
  • Manage team headcount and recruiting for all new hires.
  • Evaluate new tools and technologies for security, performance, and maintainability.
  • Work with project managers to develop project plans and timelines and ensure we are delivering on project scope and budget.
  • Provide thought leadership on front end topics both internally and externally.
  • Provide subject matter expertise for new business development efforts and lead solutioning for front end portions.
Your Weapons (Wield Them Wisely)
  • Expert knowledge of HTML/CSS/JS
  • Expertise around building for WCAG accessibility conformance
  • Experience and expertise with design systems and advanced understanding of how Figma libraries connect with code repos
  • Experience with CSS preprocessors (e.g., SASS)
  • Expert in advanced CSS techniques
  • Demonstrated ability to write performant code
  • Deep experience developing responsive websites
  • Familiarity with major JS Frameworks (e.g., Vue, React, Angular)
  • Ability to integrate 3rd party libraries depending on project requirements
  • Familiarity with Git
  • Familiarity with various front end build tools (e.g. Webpack, Gulp)
  • Expert understanding of how to develop for cross-browser compatibility
  • Familiarity with animation libraries and SVGs
  • Experience building web applications with Node and Express
  • Experience working with MongoDB/Mongoose
  • Ability to create websites that meet accessibility standards
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Eye for detail and high personal standards

We reserve the right to pay above or below the base salary range of $167,700-$249,100 based on factors unrelated to sex, race, or any other protected classification.

Additional earnings may be available through incentive programs like annual bonuses, profit sharing, etc.
