Project Manager - Internal Operations

The Project Manager – Internal Operations is responsible for owning, managing, and executing the day-to-day activities for One North & TGS’ internal projects.

 

These activities may include managing the day-to-day aspects of a project, planning and executing future projects, and ensuring internal team satisfaction and forward progress of strategic internal initiatives. This position will work with all levels of the business and will ensure internal projects are managed with the same rigor and drive that our client projects receive.

The Project Manager – Internal Operations partners with the team to ensure that One North’s internal projects meet all requirements, proceed steadily and in accordance with target completion dates, and are of the highest quality, while also being flexible enough to allow practitioners to perform urgent client work. This individual must lead from experience in structuring multiple engagements with parallel work streams spanning digital strategy, brand development, brand strategy, creative, design, user experience, and web development that ladders up to stakeholder satisfaction.

This role will ideally be based in the Chicago area, but we are open to remote locations across the U.S. and Canada.

Responsibilities
  • Act as the primary day-to-day project contact for stakeholders and internal teams.
  • Conduct scoping and estimating collaboratively as part of a cross-functional team to allow for accurate cost budgeting and timeline expectations for internal projects.
  • Independently manage and report weekly on active project costs, resource needs, and progress towards completion.
  • Work with resourcing team to ensure assigned resources are used appropriately and that all needed resource allocations are captured in the resource management system and forecasted appropriately.
  • Manage cross-functional work streams across multiple projects and stakeholders, from upstream design and strategy work through to build and implementation.
  • Ensure the use of best practices and apply lessons learned from previous engagements (both internal and client-facing).
  • Help produce project lifecycle documentation, including project schedules, status reports, and all other documentation defining individual project requirements.
  • Monitor the quality of all aspects of all projects: scope, risk, schedule, budget, delivery, and all associated stakeholder communication.
  • Contribute to and help manage internal process improvement initiatives, especially those involving tools and knowledge management standardization and solutions. Collaborate with the organization to develop guidelines and processes that advance the agency’s Project Management discipline.
  • Proactively identify issues and risks; know when to escalate issues and when to work through them on your own.
  • Pursue opportunities to both lead by example and foster the talents of high-performing team members.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or relevant experience required
  • 5 or more years of professional project management experience
  • Experience creating project schedules, managing project budgets, and project reporting
  • Ability to communicate effectively across junior and senior leadership/stakeholders
  • Experience in a client services organization or digital agency leading projects across multiple disciplines
  • Self-starter, ability to work independently and with confidence
  • Solid track record of successfully developing multi-faceted projects from start to finish, on time, and managing to a budget
  • Experience resourcing team members across project lifecycle
  • High emotional intelligence with the ability to demonstrate client empathy, while balancing the needs of our business and our team
  • Detail-oriented with strong planning and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication skills, particularly in conjunction with workflow steps, internal processes, and senior-leadership presentations
  • Effective negotiation and conflict management/risk mitigation skills
  • Experience in project estimation
  • Accountability and flexibility, with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to work well under pressure
  • Experience or exposure to delivery of technology implementation projects
  • Experience working with both waterfall and agile methodology

We reserve the right to pay above or below the base salary range of $105,000-$150,000 based on factors unrelated to sex, race, or any other protected classification.

Additional earnings may be available through incentive programs like annual bonuses, profit sharing, etc.
