Studio Manager

One North is seeking an energetic and motivated Studio Manager with expertise in production at scale to be part of our Studio team.

 

In this role you will be responsible for managing multiple, multi-faceted studio teams, supporting a complex client portfolio. As a vital member of our team, you will report to and be under the guidance of an Associate Director of Delivery, and you will partner cross-functionally with Agency leadership to innovate and evolve current capabilities, ensuring KPIs and SLAs are met.

The perfect applicant will bring experience from agency and studio backgrounds, with a robust track record in pitching, developing solutions/approaches, team formation, workflow oversight, client interactions, and reporting. The ability to effectively communicate both up and downstream is a must, along with a results-oriented and positive attitude. At least 5 years of leadership experience is preferred for this position.

The responsibilities below are not exhaustive and may require adjustment based on internal and client requirements.

The Studio Manager will ideally be based in the Los Angeles area, but we are open to remote locations across the U.S.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as the main client contact, overseeing communication, feedback, and team adjustments while building relationships to drive new initiatives and program growth.
  • Evaluate opportunities and formulate strategies to improve delivery standards, increase productivity, drive growth, and innovate, in collaboration with Operations and Practice.
  • Manage and mentor a group of multi-disciplinary team leads which may include offshore teams and/or third-party vendors.
  • Ensure deliverables and plans are on track, risks are identified and mitigated, and problematic developments are assessed and resolved.
  • Develop methodologies to gather qualitative and quantitative data about the team and the work, surfacing results to optimize workflows, drive efficiencies, and enhance team performance.
  • Develop and present client business reviews, new business pitches, and leadership presentations.
  • Hold monthly Studio All Hands Meetings to provide team, business, and client updates.
  • Foster a culture of excellence, growth, and multi-disciplinary collaboration, balancing team, business, and client needs.
  • Seek opportunities for professional development, welcome constructive feedback, and apply learnings to improve skills.
  • Stay updated with industry trends to bring innovative ideas to the team.
  • Adhere to security protocols and confidentiality agreements to ensure the protection of sensitive information.
  • Develop fluency in the client’s brand and culture.
Skills & Qualifications
  • 5 or more years as a Studio or Creative Manager leading medium to large teams in fast-paced studio and client settings
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, project management tools – ideally Workfront and Asana, and Agile and Waterfall methodologies. Experience with Figma, GitHub, HTML, CSS etc. a plus
  • Proven leadership in building high performing teams, client relationships, and cross-functional collaboration
  • Exceptional communication skills, able to lead business discussions with clients and senior leaders
  • Strong business acumen, decision-making, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills
  • Highly analytical, thriving in iterative environments and applying data-driven insights to drive decision-making
  • Collaborative, with a strong work ethic, prioritization skills, and attention to detail
  • Proven ability to develop customer solutions that meet financial and strategic objectives
  • Passionate about creative production and staying current with emerging technologies
  • Experienced in creative production processes and ticket-based systems
  • Self-aware and open to feedback, proactively learning from mistakes to continuously improve
  • Project management certification (PMP) or other similar training is preferred
  • Degree in graphic design or similar creative field is desired, but not necessary

We reserve the right to pay above or below the base salary range of $105,000-$150,000 based on factors unrelated to sex, race, or any other protected classification.

Additional earnings may be available through incentive programs like annual bonuses, profit sharing, etc.
