Move from Vision to Value: Designing AI Adoption Around People

As artificial intelligence (AI) rapidly evolves, organizations are racing to keep up and realize value. Many AI initiatives stall before delivering measurable impact. Why? Human-Centered AI (HCAI)

Rather than leading with technology, let’s begin with understanding the people who will use it — their needs, their work, and their goals.

When AI solutions are designed around human experience, adoption accelerates. Employees engage more deeply, customers respond more positively, and business outcomes improve. This isn’t just a philosophical stance. It’s a pragmatic strategy.

HCAI is practical and requires discipline. And while there are no shortcuts — this isn’t magic or rocket science — there are key ingredients needed for AI Adoption, and HCIA, that are familiar to us all. But, just like any recipe, there’s more to process than just throwing all the ingredients in a bowl!

 

Defining the Human Experience as the Driver of Impact

We put people first with HCAI. And through that lens, we bring together the aspects of the experience, the technology, and governance. This is all connected.

  • People: AI adoption succeeds when people have the knowledge, skills, attitudes, and values to thrive and drive impact. We must build AI literacy, role-specific skills, and create a culture where employees feel confident and empowered to use AI in their work. People enable everything!
  • Program Management: Strategy sets the direction; people bring it to life. However, without disciplined coordination, AI adoption can lose momentum. Program management keeps everything aligned, prioritized, and moving forward. It’s the glue that holds the adoption journey together — turning plans into measurable outcomes. That means managing AI initiatives, driving change and communication, tracking value realization, and ensuring continuous improvement. When program management is strong, adoption doesn’t just start — it scales and sustains. Program management is what embeds everything.
